Description

Service housing is a good option when, despite receiving in-home services, you find it challenging to continue living in your own home while maintaining your well-being. Our primary goal is to ensure your safety and enable you to fully enjoy life through our service housing. Service housing involves residing in a designated apartment within a service housing community, where you receive a range of services, including caregiving and meal assistance. We offer service housing in various settings, such as service housing groups, group homes, housing groups, and through purchased service units. Additionally, you have the option to apply for service housing using a service voucher. In the context of service housing, you will be responsible for covering the rent, apartment maintenance fees, and other daily living expenses, including medications and other necessary medical care services. Importantly, the assistance and support essential for addressing your disabilities are provided to you free of charge. For further details about service housing or to initiate the application process, please get in touch with Counselling for People with Disabilities or your designated worker. Applications for housing services are processed through the disability service application form, ensuring a streamlined process for your convenience.

About this service

Description

The need for the short-term placement of a child may arise if the parents cannot take care of the child due to, for example, acute mental health issues, an accident or substance abuse, or if the child has been mistreated or if the child engages in self-harming behaviour. Short-term placement of a child is based on the Child Welfare Act. A social worker makes the decision on the placement. In the short-term foster family or reception facility, children or young people are received safely, they get the care they need, and their situation is assessed. A child may also be placed with a relative or another person close to the child for a short period. The child, family and their loved ones, as well as the employees and authorities in their network, work together during the placement. The aim is to find the most suitable means of support and help for the child and family. The child can be received at the facility either as an urgent placement or through an open care support measure. During the short-term placement, the responsible social worker makes a decision, based on a joint assessment, whether the child will return to their home or be placed in longer-term care outside the home. If children or young people need longer-term placement, they are placed in a substitute care location that meets their needs.

Conditions

During office hours, the social worker responsible for the child and the client guidance social worker of the services will collaborate to determine a suitable placement unit for the child based on the available information. Outside office hours, the placement is carried out by emergency social services. Placement into an institution is possible if family care is unable to meet the child’s needs or no places are available. The social worker in charge of the placement makes the decision in accordance with Section 37 or Section 38 of the Child Welfare Act.
