About this service
Description
When a company intends to export a chemical that is banned or severely restricted in the EU to a non-EU country, it must submit an export notification no later than 35 days before the first export of the calendar year. The requirement also applies to products containing such chemicals. The chemicals are listed in Annex I to the EU PIC Regulation. In some cases, it is necessary to obtain the consent of the importing country through the authorities before export can take place. The export notification is submitted to the Finnish Environment Institute in the ePIC information system maintained by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The Finnish Environment Institute confirms the notification and submits it to the European Chemicals Agency, which sends the notification to the designated national authority of the importing country outside of the EU. The Finnish Environment Institute provides up-to-date information on the export notification procedure (PIC) for banned or severely restricted chemicals on its website. The Finnish Environment Institute SYKE processes the export notification in accordance with the EU PIC Regulation (649/2012), which defines the handling process and processing times of export notifications.
