Kirjaamo ottaa vastaan ja kirjaa kaikki hallinnolliseen päätöksentekoon johtavat asiat ja asiakirjat. Lisäksi kirjaamo kirjaa kaikki asiat, jotka etenevät viranhaltijan vastattavaksi. Kirjaamo rekisteröi asiat ja asiakirjat kaupungin päätöksentekojärjestelmään, ja lähettää ne eteenpäin valmisteltavaksi asian valmistelusta vastaavalle taholle. Kaupungin virallinen sähköpostiosoite on kirjaamo@tampere.fi.
