Private family day care

In family daycare, emphasis is placed on play, outdoor activities, and movement both within the family daycare home and in the surrounding area.

Published by: City of Turku · Municipality

Description language: English

Coverage: Selected municipalities, regions or wellbeing services counties

About this service

Description

In family daycare, emphasis is placed on play, outdoor activities, and movement both within the family daycare home and in the surrounding area. The activities in family daycare are based on the municipality's early childhood education plan. In Turku, there are privately supervised family daycare providers available through the municipality. To apply for group family daycare homes and family daycare supported by private care, you need to contact the daycare directly. ### Employing a caregiver in your own home Private daycare can also be provided by an individual whom the family hires as a caregiver in their home. The caregiver could be, for example, a grandparent, but not a member of the same household. Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland) may provide compensation to the family for hiring a caregiver. The caregiver must be approved by the municipality.

How to use it

### Applying for a private family daycare: * Contact a private family daycare provider. * Apply for private care support by filling out the form Lasten yksityisen hoidon tuesta (WH2) on Kela's website. * The private family daycare provider can assist with filling out the form if needed. ### Employing a caregiver in your own home: * Once you have found a suitable caregiver, fill out the form Lasten yksityisen hoidon tuesta (WH2) on Kela's website. * Request a signature on the form from the early childhood education service guidance at the joint service point at Kauppatorin Monitori.

Conditions

Early childhood education can be provided to a child who is not yet of compulsory school age. Even a child of compulsory school age can receive daycare if special circumstances require it and it cannot be arranged otherwise. To qualify for private care support, the child under school age must not have a municipal daycare placement. In addition to private care support, families in Turku receive a municipal supplement.

Fee details

The child's guardians make an agreement with the private family daycare provider regarding early childhood education services and their payment. The family can apply for private care support from Kela.

Recruiting apprenticeship

Through a recruiting apprenticeship training, the employer can recruit and train new employees.

Published by: City of Turku · Municipality

Description language: English

Coverage: Selected municipalities, regions or wellbeing services counties

About this service

Description

A recruiting apprenticeship is a service for both the employer and the jobseeker. Through a recruiting apprenticeship training, the employer can recruit and train new employees. In a recruiting apprenticeship, the jobseeker does not apply for a job independently; instead, an expert in employer services at the employment services or a training inspector at the apprenticeship office has a job position for which a suitable employee is being sought among unemployed jobseekers registered with employment services. If the jobseeker lacks sufficient skills, an apprenticeship agreement is made to address the skills gap, along with an employment contract between the employer and the jobseeker. The studies are mainly carried out at the workplace through practical work tasks. In addition, the studies include theoretical education at an educational institution.

How to use it

### Instructions for Employers 1. An employment services expert or an apprenticeship office training inspector may suggest recruitment through a recruiting apprenticeship when a suitable jobseeker is identified who still needs additional skills to manage the job tasks. 2. The employment services expert or training inspector will arrange a job interview between you and the jobseeker. 3. Once you decide to recruit the jobseeker and approve the contents of the employment and training agreements, an apprenticeship agreement is signed between you, the jobseeker, and the apprenticeship office. This can be done during or after the interview, and the training inspector is responsible for finalizing the agreement. 4. You must also sign a separate employment contract with the jobseeker. The employment relationship may begin even before the apprenticeship starts. 5. If you are hiring the employee with wage subsidy, you must apply for the subsidy in time—at least two weeks before the employment begins. ### Instructions for Jobseekers 1. An employment services expert will suggest a suitable job and employer for you. If you accept the proposal, the expert or training inspector will introduce you to the employer and arrange a job interview on your behalf. 2. Once the employer has approved the contents of the employment and training agreements, an apprenticeship agreement is signed between you, the employer, and the apprenticeship office. This can be done during or after the interview, and the training inspector is responsible for finalizing the agreement. 3. To complete the agreement, you must fill out an electronic pre-information form. You will receive the form from the apprenticeship office. 4. You must also sign a separate employment contract with the employer. The employment relationship may begin even before the apprenticeship starts. 5. If you are working with a wage subsidy, the employer must apply for the subsidy before the employment begins. 6. The apprenticeship office will enroll you in an educational institution, and the institution will contact you. After that, the apprenticeship can begin.

Conditions

A condition is that the recruited person is an unemployed jobseeker from Turku who is not subject to compulsory education. The employer’s company does not need to be located in Turku. The working hours must be at least 25 hours per week, and the employment must last for a minimum of one month.

Description

RekryTreffit are free recruitment events organized by the City of Turku. These events offer jobseekers the opportunity to find employment and companies the chance to find employees. The events are held almost weekly in Turku. Each event features one company that is actively recruiting. During the event, the employer presents their company and open positions in an informational format and interviews jobseekers. The companies are mainly based in Turku, but the jobs may be located elsewhere. The events are primarily held in Finnish.

How to use it

### Instructions for employers * Contact the business services of the Turku employment region to arrange a RekryTreffit event. * You decide whether to make recruitment decisions on-site or to direct jobseekers to complete applications or attend follow-up interviews. * Define the job criteria to be used in the event communication. * Prepare an informational presentation lasting 10–30 minutes. * Be prepared to stay at the event until all interested jobseekers have been interviewed. ### Instructions for jobseekers * Participation in RekryTreffit is always voluntary. * No advance registration is required. * Always read the job advertisements carefully, as the application criteria may vary. * Arrive on time – in some cases, you may not be allowed to join once the presentation has started. * Fill in the application form during the event and return it to the organizer. * Be prepared for a job interview, which is always part of RekryTreffit.

Conditions

An employer participating in RekryTreffit must have at least two open positions to present at the event. A jobseeker can participate in RekryTreffit regardless of their place of residence, educational background, or employment status.
