Description

The purpose of support person activities is to enhance your opportunities for engaging in recreational and leisure pursuits. With the assistance of a support companion, you can explore activities such as shopping or attending diverse events. Moreover, your support person can serve as both a conversational partner and a companion for outdoor adventures. If you feel the need for a support person, please fill in the disability service application form. Deliver the application to a service point of Disability Work in your area of residence. Note! Support person activities granted to a person with a disability under the Social Welfare Act have been discontinued as of 1 January 2025. Existing decisions remain valid, and the support person activities may therefore continue until the final validity date of the decision. Extensions for the service cannot be applied for after this date. You can find a support person yourself or ask a social worker to help you find one. A family member living in the same household cannot act as your support person. Your support person must be over 16 years old. For more information on support person activities, please contact sote.tukihenkilovammaistyohon@hel.fi. The support person is paid a fee and compensation for expenses.

Description

Services that support informal carers in their work include statutory leave, which can be arranged as short-term care in housing services or institutions, with the help of a substitute informal carer or hourly caretaker, as day activities, or as a home service. Leave can be arranged through the City’s own services, purchased service or with a service voucher. In addition to the statutory leave, other recreational holidays can be arranged for families giving informal care. Services are applied for via support for informal care social care workers at the client’s own social services office.

Conditions

An informal carer receiving support for informal care is entitled to at least two full days of leave for any calendar month during which they are paid support for informal care. An informal carer is entitled to at least three full days of leave for any calendar month during which the carer is bound continuously or with only minor interruptions to provide around-the-clock or continuous daily care. The service is intended for residents of Helsinki.

Supported housing is an excellent choice when you possess a good degree of independence in your daily activities but still require support and guidance either in maintaining your independent living or during the transition toward complete independence. The amount and nature of assistance depends on your individual needs. It can include visits by an instructor with the aim of making your everyday living and managing your affairs easier. Support can also be provided by telephone or video calls. You can receive assistance when living in an apartment you own or rent or in a transitional apartment. If you live in a transitional apartment, you are responsible for paying the rent yourself. Support visits provided by Supported Housing are free of charge to you. For more information on supported housing and transitional apartments, please contact Counselling for People with Disabilities or your designated worker. Housing services are applied for using the disability service application form.

The TBE vaccine provides protection against tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). Please note that while the TBE vaccine is often called a 'tick vaccine', it does not protect you against ticks or prevent a tick from attaching itself to your skin. The most common disease spread by ticks is borreliosis, i.e. Lyme disease. There is no vaccine against this. The free-of-charge TBE vaccination series is provided to people who have a permanent address in the postal code area 00800 (Länsi-Herttoniemi) or Karhusaari or a long-term holiday apartment in the area. This vaccination is included in the national vaccination programme. Children and young people in early childhood and basic education in these areas are also provided with the vaccine series free of charge. Booster shots for those who have already received three vaccine doses are not included in the vaccination programme but can be purchased.

Description

As a parent you may experience uncertainty, worry, anxiety or depressive symptoms during or after the baby is born. The infant may cry a lot or be restless or difficult to calm down or have challenges with sleeping and eating. Therapeutic work for families with infants supports the interaction between the parent and the baby and the baby’s development. Parents have the opportunity to work on their parenting skills, as well as their relationship with the infant, their partner and other loved ones. Our forms of work include meetings with a parent and a baby as well as couple, family and group meetings. If necessary, we can make home visits. We offer therapeutic work for families with infants if the support provided by family members or maternity and child health clinics and other basic services is not enough. If you are interested in therapeutic work for families with infants, please contact social counselling for families with children or submit an application in Maisa. Send a message via Maisa by selecting Social Services > Submit an Application/Services for families with children. We will respond to you within three working days. If we cannot reach you by phone, you will get a reply in Maisa. You can apply for therapeutic work for families with infants during your 20th pregnancy week, at the earliest. The service is free of charge. .

Conditions

Therapeutic work for families with infants is intended for expecting families and for families with a child under the age on one year, when the worries concerning the birth of the infant and the following months are reflected in the parenthood and the relationship between the parent and the infant. Description

Mobility support is intended for Helsinki residents with a disability for whom using public transport is unreasonably difficult. The support we provide can be a transport service or other mobility support best suited to your situation. We grant support for your commute to work or studies and travelling for errands and leisure activities. We do not grant support for health care-related trips, as Kela reimburses visits to doctors and examinations on the basis of health insurance. You can apply for mobility support by filling in the mobility support application form. You need a medical certificate to accompany your application, in which your doctor has assessed your need for support. Send your application to a service point of Social Work for People with Disabilities in your area of residence. We will assess your situation and decide on the service. If you receive a positive decision for transport service, you will receive a payment card, which allows you to travel, as a rule, in Helsinki and nearby municipalities by taxi. You only make a copayment for the trips.

Upbringing and family guidance is intended for children under 18 years of age from Helsinki and their families. Upbringing and family guidance offers assistance in matters related to the growth and upbringing of a child or a young person and in questions concerning parenthood. In addition, help is available for interaction within the family and for the child's or family's crisis. Care is planned and implemented after an assessment, while taking into account the needs of each family. The workers of the multidisciplinary team are social workers, psychologists and child psychologists. You can apply for service via the Social guidance for families with children, tel. 09 3101 5454.. The Swedish telephone service is on Mondays 9–12. The services are free of charge for the customers.

Conditions
