Description

The national vaccination programme includes vaccinations against diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, measles, whooping cough, mumps, rubella and polio. You can receive the vaccinations free of charge at your local health station. You can book an appointment via Maisa or by calling your local health station. Occupational health care providers and private clinics also administer all vaccines included in the national vaccination programme. Instructions from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) state that adults must themselves ensure that they have received the basic vaccination series against tetanus, diphtheria and polio. Municipalities are responsible for administering vaccines included in the national vaccination programme to children and young people at maternity and child health clinics, schools and educational institutions. Diphtheria and tetanus (dT) vaccine Protection against diphtheria and tetanus should be maintained at all times. Boosters are administered at the age of 25 (dtap), 45 and 65 years, and then every 10 years. Diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough vaccine (DTaP) You will receive a booster at the age of 14–15 and at the age of 25. Those born in 1993 and after are entitled to receive the DTaP vaccine at the age of 25. If you were born in 1993 or after and did not receive the vaccine at the age of 25, you can still get the booster free of charge. If you were born before 1993, you are only entitled to a free DTaP vaccine if you work as a healthcare professional. Those working in the health care and social welfare sector are vaccinated against whooping cough if they work at a unit caring for children aged under 12 months. The vaccine provides protection for approximately five years. Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine If you were born in 1975 or later in Finland, the MMR vaccine was included in the vaccines administered at maternity and child health clinics. If you have not received the MMR vaccine or have had any of the diseases mentioned above, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare recommends that you receive the vaccination. Polio (IPV) vaccine People born in 1940 or later in Finland will have received the polio vaccine in accordance with national vaccination programmes at their maternity and child health clinic or school, for example. Description

Work Ability Support Services are intended for unemployed Helsinki residents aged 18-63 and for recipients of basic social assistance whose illness, defect or disability may hinder progress towards employment or education. Once we have received a referral, we will assess your work ability and functional capacity. You will be supported by social workers, work ability coordinators and public health nurses. The service is free of charge. To access Work Ability Support Services, you need either a referral or a professional assessment. The professional may be a social worker or social instructor at a Helsinki Health and Wellbeing Centre, whom you can contact, for example, by submitting an electronic contact request in the social welfare section of Maisa.

Conditions

Customers between the ages 18 to 63 years, who are referred to the service and whose work abilities, functional abilities and possibilities for receiving a pension need to be assessed. The service is intended for residents of Helsinki.

Work activities and employment support activities for people with disabilities are intended for Helsinki residents aged 18–65 who, due to a disability, illness or other reasons, need specialised support for employment or work activities to maintain their functional capacity.You have to receive disability pension or rehabilitation support to access these services. Within our work activities and related programmes, you'll have the opportunity to acquaint yourself with the dynamics of working life and acquire a diverse set of skills essential for various career paths. Together, we focus on cultivating a solid understanding of the rules governing the workplace, while also exploring suitable career options tailored to your unique abilities and interests. Participation in work activities typically occurs at our activity centres, and there is no cost associated with participation. However, meals are subject to a charge. We take care of your commuting expenses, providing an HSL travel card for public transport. If you need mobility support, or a transport service, the activity centre will cover the cost. Moreover, employment support activities can be arranged at regular workplaces or as subcontracting work, with participants receiving a modest compensation. You can apply for the service by filling in the disability service application form and delivering it to the service point of the Social Work for People with Disabilities Unit in your area.
