Description
The vaccination guidance service for travellers will assess your vaccination coverage and find out whether you need vaccines or antimalarial tablets before your trip. The need for vaccines and medicines will be determined by the country of destination, any specific risks involved and the nature and duration of the stay.
Based on the assessment, a physician will write you the prescriptions you need. You can pick up the vaccines and preventive medicines at a pharmacy and book a vaccination appointment at your local health station.
How to use it
You can contact the vaccination guidance service for travellers by phone or online to find out whether you need vaccines or antimalarial tablets before your trip. A public health nurse and a physician will assess the vaccines and any antimalarial medicines you need, and you will receive prescriptions for them.
You must buy the medicines and vaccines yourself at a pharmacy. Book a vaccination appointment at your local health station, occupational healthcare or other healthcare unit and bring the vaccines with you to the appointment. Make sure that the vaccines are stored correctly at your home, following the instructions received from the pharmacy.
Adults can get the basic vaccines they need and the prescription vaccines for travellers by booking a vaccination appointment at their local health station. Vaccines for children and young people are administered either at child health clinics, schools or through student healthcare.
Conditions
The service is intended for all residents of the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland. You should check your vaccination status six months before travelling abroad.
