Description

We can grant you financial assistance in accordance with the appropriations reserved for the service. The assistance covers special costs resulting from your disability or illness. The assistance is intended to cover costs related to your need to purchase different equipment and technical solutions as support. ‘Equipment’ refers to a vast array of different equipment, devices and machines necessary to maintain daily functions, move, communicate and participate in leisure activities. ‘Technical solutions’ refer to solutions created through technical developments with the aim to enhance inclusion and independent life of persons with disabilities. Assistance is granted for devices and solutions, such as • communication tools, • household appliances necessary due to functional limitations, • recreational and leisure-time equipment and devices, • safety equipment and devices, and all associated technical solutions. Assistance is not granted for • regular household equipment or technical solutions available in most households • medical rehabilitation equipment.

Conditions

The reimbursement paid out to a person with a disability is half of the reasonable cost of the equipment, machines or devices. Equipment and solutions need to be necessary to carry out daily functions, move, communicate or participate in leisure activities. Assistance is granted in accordance with the appropriations available.

Description

People with severe disabilities can receive compensation for the reasonable costs of acquiring fixed equipment and devices for their homes, provided that they absolutely need these for mobility, communication or daily activities. The equipment and devices that can be compensated include lifting devices, alarm devices or other similar pieces of equipment and devices that are installed as fixed elements of the home. The Wellbeing Services County can also issue such pieces of equipment or devices to people with severe disabilities for no charge. In this case, the equipment or devices remain in the ownership of the Wellbeing Services County, which is also responsible for their maintenance

Conditions

The clients receiving the service are persons with disabilities, as defined in the Disability Services Act, who absolutely need it to move around, communicate or manage daily activities due to their disability or illness.

We provide information and support for people who use drugs intravenously and their families. You can come directly to the service point during its opening hours. You do not need a referral or an appointment. Our service is anonymous and based on mutual trust. We provide conversational therapy, service advice, and health and social guidance. We also offer you help with problems related to housing or livelihood, as well as treatment for basic diseases and other symptoms. If you wish, we will provide you with information on various substance abuse treatments and treatment places, as well as how to apply for them. In addition, you will have access to prevention and treatment for infections caused by injections, skin symptoms, sexually transmitted diseases or other medical problems. Our goal is to help you take care of your own health and reduce the harm caused by your substance abuse by providing testing, monitoring and treatment of infectious diseases, as well as clean injection equipment.

About this service

Description

You may live in institutional care if the housing support you need cannot be arranged around the clock at home or in sheltered housing. Your service needs will be assessed by identifying your functional ability and state of health as well as other factors related to your need for 24-hour care. The decision on institutional care is made on the basis of your health and safety. Your institutional care includes the necessary care, rehabilitation and medical care, but also meals, medication, medical services, essential dental care, hygiene and care supplies, clothing and laundry. The institutional care also includes transportation when it is part of your care. You have the opportunity to participate in common activities for the residents. Housing is included in your service. You will be living in a pre-furnished room for one or multiple people. The washrooms and toilets may be shared by several residents. You may need to change rooms during your stay. During your stay in institutional care, we will support and promote your well-being, safety and good quality of life. Close family members/persons and the personnel cooperate in your care and rehabilitation. As a rule, you are allowed to live in institutional care for the remainder of your life. Institutional care is organised by both public and private service providers. Housing services for the elderly are gradually abandoning social welfare institutional care and moving towards more individualised, more up-to-date service housing, where the elderly live in their own dwellings or in single or double rooms in a group home. Social welfare institutional care is abandoning long-term housing by 2027.

Conditions

According to Section 14a of the Elderly Services Act, a wellbeing services county can provide long-term care and attention in the form of institutional care to suit the elderly person’s service needs only if there are medical grounds for doing so, or if it is otherwise justified to ensure safe care for the client/patient. The decision on the service can also be made as per Section 67 of the Health Care Act.

Description

24-hour sheltered housing may provide a solution in a situation where you need care and attention 24 hours a day. Long-term sheltered housing is offered in housing units listed in the Nursing home portal of Western Uusimaa. Western Uusimaa has care homes provided by the wellbeing services county and private service providers. They all follow the same principles regarding the content and quality of the service. You will live in the room you rented with an electric adjustable bed, mattress, wardrobe, a lockable storage unit and a ceiling-mounted light. Clothing and laundry care, excluding textiles requiring special washing, is included in the service. The service includes a daily breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, dinner and evening snack and, if necessary, a night-time snack. The catering service includes special diets and nutritional supplements prescribed by a physician. The housing unit has staff available 24 hours a day to provide you with the help you need. The staff takes care of your medication and ensures that you receive the health care and medical care you need. Care homes also have a physician in charge. At the housing unit, you get to live safely and according to your personal wishes and habits. If you wish, you can participate in outdoor activities, physical activity and cultural events. This service is subject to a fee. The fee is based on your income or the combined income of you and your spouse. You are responsible for your medication costs. The state pays the client fees of front-line veterans and disabled veterans who fought in Finland's wars. The veterans pay for the share of the rent. Description

We focus on ensuring a healthy pregnancy, supporting your family's overall well-being, and facilitating a safe childbirth experience. We are here to assist you with all pregnancy-related matters and the transition to parenthood. The first pregnancy visit should be scheduled as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed, after pregnancy week 6. The first maternity clinic visit is generally conducted remotely. Your partner or support person is always welcome to accompany you. Throughout your pregnancy, you'll typically have monthly meetings with a nurse or doctor—either in person at the clinic or remotely. The maternity clinic also offers support for strengthening relationships. If you are expecting your first child, you and your partner (and/or support person) will be referred to a multidisciplinary Family Coaching program. Should any complications arise during your pregnancy, your doctor or nurse will refer you for further examinations at the maternity clinic. As your pregnancy progresses, additional appointments and specialized support can be arranged as needed. These may include managing gestational diabetes, addressing fears related to childbirth, breastfeeding guidance, or support for mental health and substance use issues. If parents are unmarried, the clinic offers guidance on recognizing parenthood. Under certain conditions, acknowledgment of parenthood can also be completed at the clinic before the child is born.

Conditions

Maternity clinic services are available to all pregnant individuals and expectant families as part of primary healthcare. These services are voluntary, free of charge, and provided under the Health Care Act (Section 15).

The memory clinic services are obtained with a doctor's referral. The referral can be drawn up by a physician at your health centre, a hospital physician or a private physician. At the Memory Clinic, a memory nurse and a geriatrician or a physician familiar with memory disorders perform more extensive examinations, which may also involve imaging or laboratory examinations. The aim is to detect and identify the memory disorder as early as possible and slow down the progress of the disease. In addition, our goal is to maintain your functional capacity through pharmacotherapy and rehabilitative measures so that you can live safely at home for as long as possible. After the examinations and diagnosis at the Memory Clinic, the Senior Info client manager specialised in memory disorders and a physician at your health station will monitor your situation. If you are a home care client, home care nurses and attending physicians are responsible for the monitoring. Appointments at the Memory Clinic are subject to an appointment-specific client fee that is taken into consideration in the annual payment ceiling. We can provide you with guidance and advice, an assessment of your treatment needs and treatment planned in cooperation with you according to your needs. You can come to our service without a referral. The goal of mental health and substance abuse services is to increase mental well-being, strengthen mental health and control substance use, and reduce the harm caused by mental health problems and addiction. Our goal is also to improve our clients’ everyday ability to function at work, in studies and in relationships. Our service also includes preventive mental health and substance abuse work. We carry out preventive work in cooperation with our clients, organisations and other professionals. Preventive work includes, for example, various groups and events that support mental well-being.

Description

The mental health and substance abuse services for young people can provide you with guidance and advice, assessment and treatment. You can contact us about issues such as life management, mood, substance abuse and life crises. You can come to our service without a referral. We will always plan the treatment together with you and, with your permission, invite your guardian or other people important to you to contribute to the planning. Your treatment may include individual or group sessions, family meetings or meetings with other people important to you. If necessary, we can also book you a doctor’s appointment to start medication or direct you to further treatment. We will plan treatment periods in cooperation with you and they will be of the length agreed with you. Our service is voluntary for you and it is based on mutual trust. If necessary, we cooperate with other services, such as student welfare and family centre services. We always agree on cooperation with you and carry it out with your permission.

The mental health and substance abuse services for young people are open to all 13–17-year-old residents of the wellbeing services county. You can come to our service without a referral. Description

The purpose of mobility instruction is for the person with a visual impairment to master the techniques or means of moving safely and the skills needed for traveling on familiar paths. A person with a visual impairment can receive mobility instruction from the HUS Outpatient Clinic for Eye Diseases and through adaptation training courses arranged by Kela. In addition to these, the service can be granted by the Disability Services, if adequate support for the client’s situation has not been achieved through rehabilitation. Disability Services can grant mobility instruction for things such as learning the services and routes in the client’s close environment, expanding the area in which the client moves and when the client’s eyesight deteriorates or when they start using a new mobility aid.

Conditions

Mobility instruction is a service intended for persons with visual impairment. The rehabilitation provided by HUS Outpatient Clinic for Eye Diseases and Kela’s adaptation training courses takes precedence over the mobility instruction provided by the Disability Services.

A transport service as per the Disability Services Act is a service in which trips to work, studies, hobbies and recreation are reimbursed to a person with a disability. The transport service is intended for persons with severe disability that have great difficulty with mobility and whose illness or disability causes unreasonable challenges with using public transport. At least 18 transport service trips are granted per month for hobby and recreational activities. Work and study trips are covered separately.
