Description

The aim of community house activities is to increase the participation and wellbeing of city residents, as well as prevent loneliness. In the community houses you can participate in various groups and events. You can come along to brainstorm activities, participate or to just hang out.All community houses in Helsinki have computers for electronic services. If necessary, you can also get digital support for using your own devices.The activities are free of charge for visitors. The premises of the community house can also be reserved for the activities of associations and organisations as well as for private use, in which case a fee may be charged for the reservations.

Description

Independent studies with unemployment benefit means that you can complete full-time studies at an educational institution as a client of employment services. Sometimes independent study can help you find work and integrate faster. Independent study can be * completion of comprehensive school * preparatory education for upper secondary school * preparatory vocational education * qualifying studies (e.g. physicians) * Finnish or Swedish language studies. The studies must be in Finnish or Swedish. If the studies are included in social orientation, they may be in your native language. You can study with unemployment benefit for a maximum of 24 months. However, in the case of basic education, you can receive support for a maximum of 48 months. You must progress in your studies as agreed in the integration plan in order to receive support.

Conditions

You can receive unemployment security for independent studies if * you have registered as a jobseeker * an employment authority estimates that studies are the best way to support your employment * the studies have been agreed upon in your integration plan.

Description

If you live in Helsinki and have just received a residence permit, card or registered your right of residence, you may be able to receive services supporting integration provided by the City of Helsinki. When assessing competence and service needs for integration, we will examine your previous education, work experience, language skills, goals, wishes and the type of services you need. We can also draw up an integration plan and agree on the services you need for integration. You can bring your child along or only attend services part-time. The services may include the following: - Multilingual social orientation. The course provides basic information on Finnish society in your own language or in a language that you know well. - Finnish or Swedish language training. - Activities to promote integration and employment offered by organisations, communities or associations. If you are taking care of a child at home, you can take part in Finnish or Swedish language training during which child care will be provided. When you receive child home care allowance and attend the services agreed in the integration plan, your integration period may be extended for up to two years. In addition, there are other Finnish and Swedish language courses which you can attend on a part-time basis. You will be assigned your own specialist who will assist you in all matters related to integration. Once you have filled in the online form for integration services, we will make an appointment for you for a service needs assessment.

Conditions

Integration services for those not seeking employment are intended for you if: You are a newcomer who has received a residence permit in Finland no more than three years ago. And you are not seeking employment, for example, because you are taking care of a child at home, you have a disability or illness, or you are retired or a caregiver. Generally, you can receive integration services for 1–2 years.

Description

Employment Services will plan and implement labour market training together with the educational institution organising the training. Employers may also participate in the organisation of labour market training. Labour market training may be - training to increase professional competence and readiness - training to increase entrepreneurial preparedness - integration training. Labour market training is free of charge for you. However, card and permit training can be subject to a fee. During your labour market training, you are entitled to the same unemployment benefit as during unemployment. It is also possible to receive compensation for expenses for the training days from the unemployment benefit payer, which is the unemployment fund or Kela. If you do not receive compensation for expenses from the unemployment fund or Kela, you can apply for discretionary compensation for expenses from the Helsinki Employment Services.

Conditions

You can be selected for labour market training if * you have finished your compulsory education * the employment authority has stated that you need training * you are suitable for the training you are applying for and for the tasks for which the training provides skills. If you are under the age of 20, you can only be selected for labour market training if it is not possible or appropriate to take on independent studies. The employment authority organising the training decides on the selection of students. The employment authority will ensure that you meet the admission requirements for training. Interviews and applicable test methods can be used in student selection. The employment authority will give you a written decision on the outcome of the selection.
