Description

Dental care services are meant for Helsinki residents and those who have chosen Helsinki as their location of care. Dental care services promote the oral health of the general population. Customers are served by 37 well-equipped dental care units, one mobile dental care unit and services taken to customers. Appointments to dental care are made with a central phone service, in which dental care professionals assess the customers' needs for care. Admission to care is determined by the needs for care and the required level of emergency. Dental examinations and care are charged to customers aged 18 and older according to the statute on customer fees. Adult customers are referred to the care unit with the best availability of appointments. Services for children and customers with limited or reduced mobility are provided at the nearest care unit if possible. Some services are purchased from private dentists. Specialized dental care and emergency dental care are organized by the City of Helsinki as the host municipality in Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi and Vantaa for customers entitled to care. Dental care services utilize state-of-the-art technology in flexible ways. Dental care services include services integrated into the electronic patient database: customers can be sent automated SMS reminders of appointments and customers can report to care using automated reporting equipment at care units. For check-ups performed by a dentist, the city provides service vouchers, including comprehensive care service vouchers (KOHO) and examination and treatment service vouchers (TUTHO). When using a KOHO service voucher, the share of the client and visit fees you need to pay (deductible) remains consistent with Helsinki’s oral health care services. Utilising a TUTHO service voucher might entail a higher deductible than what’s typically associated with Helsinki’s oral health care services. However, it is important to note that both KOHO and TUTHO service vouchers could potentially result in elevated dental technician fees and increased laboratory costs compared to the city’s own services. Should you prefer to avoid the prospect of a higher deductible, we will ensure an alternative path for accessing dental care in accordance with treatment guarantee legislation. Your check-up interval will be determined by the examining dentist based on your individual treatment requirements. Typically, adults in good overall health with a healthy mouth and teeth find that an oral and dental check-up every 2 to 3 years is sufficient. The exact length of your individual check-up interval takes into account factors like general health, oral health status, healthy lifestyle practices, and self-care habits. Description

Devices and equipment to be installed in your apartment are designed to promote and support your independent living within the comfort of your own home. These recoverable items encompass a range of aids, such as lifting devices, stairlifts, various alarm systems, and electric opening systems for entrance doors. Additionally, recoverable devices and equipment may include standard home equipment if it contributes to your ability to live independently. It's important to note that costs related to typical housing amenities or general comfort are not eligible for reimbursement. To apply for this service, please visit your local Social Work for People with Disabilities service point or consult a disability services social worker, using the designated disability service application form. In order to evaluate the necessity for modifications, we require a medical certificate and an assessment from an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Upon approval of the service, the city's master builder will create an implementation plan and manage any necessary permit procedures. In cases of hearing impairment, the implementation plan will be developed by a rehabilitation instructor from HUS Helsinki University Hospital. Please be aware that we exclusively reimburse expenses related to equipment and devices intended for installation in your permanent residence. The costs deemed recoverable must be reasonable and in accordance with our guidelines. The service is free of charge to you.

The digital Health Check of the Omaolo service consists of roughly 40 questions about your state of health, lifestyle and mental wellbeing. You will receive a summary of what is going well, what your life expectancy is with your current lifestyle, and what you could pay more attention to in order to reduce your risk of falling ill. In addition to the Omaolo service, you can complete a digital health check at a MedicubeX self-measurement station at the Kalasatama or Vuosaari health station. If the results show risks factors regarding your health or wellbeing, you can contact your health centre via Omaolo.
