Description
Mobility support can be arranged if you are unable to use public transport independently due to an illness, injury or similar reason that reduces your ability to function and you need support in running errands or other everyday needs. You can be assigned a support person for getting around outside your home based on a service needs assessment. With a support person, you can practice using public transport independently, improve your ability to get around independently and use a travel card. Mobility support can be provided in the following ways or a combination of them: - guidance and guided training in the use of public transport - escort service - group transportation - by reimbursing the reasonable costs of transport by taxi, disabled taxi or other similar vehicle - by other appropriate means Support person activities You can be assigned a volunteer support person to help you get around outside your home based on a service needs assessment. The support person can help you practice using public transport and travel cards independently and strengthen your ability to get around independently outside your home. Transport services You are eligible for the transport service if two conditions are met. Firstly, you have had significant mobility difficulties for your age for at least a year. Secondly, you are unable to use public transport without great or unreasonable difficulty despite support measures (e.g. escort service). The need for the transport service is assessed by a professional in a service needs assessment.
Conditions
You are eligible for the mobility support services if you are unable to use public transport independently without unreasonable difficulty due to an illness, injury or similar reason that reduces your ability to function. To receive the service, please contact the counselling service for people with disabilities either by phone, email, through the Maisa client portal or by sending an application online or in paper form.
