Description

We provide emergency housing services to single individuals and childless couples residing in Helsinki. These services are available at the Hietaniemenkatu Service Centre’s emergency housing service, as well as at the emergency housing facilities in Lauttasaari. Emergency housing is intended for one night. To access emergency housing, you can contact the Hietaniemenkatu Service Centre by phone or visit us in person at Hietaniemenkatu 5 B. All our emergency housing locations are open 17.00–9.00. The overnight stay is free of charge and includes breakfast. Starting from 2 May 2024, emergency housing for undocumented migrants (including people belonging to Roma and traveller communities in the European Union with no permanent residence) is located at Kornetintie. You can seek assistance by visiting our Special Services for Immigrants Unit at the Kalasatama Health and Well-being Centre on weekdays from 9.00–16.00. If you get lost on your way, the reception desk staff on the first floor is ready to help you. In urgent cases during evenings after 20.00 or weekends, you can contact the Kornetintie staff directly and ask if they have an available bed. The address is Kornetintie 10, Helsinki.

Description

The Epidemiological Operations Unit is responsible for managing epidemics of infectious diseases within the City of Helsinki, as well as providing information and guidance regarding infectious diseases. In cases where necessary, health stations may refer patients to the Epidemiological Operations Unit for further assistance. As part of their duties, the Epidemiological Operations Unit is responsible for monitoring infectious diseases in Helsinki and working in collaboration with the HUS Group and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) to prevent generally hazardous and notifiable diseases. The Epidemiological Operations Unit is also responsible for monitoring patients infected with, or exposed to, generally hazardous diseases under the supervision of a physician responsible for infectious diseases, as required by the Communicable Diseases Act. Furthermore, the Epidemiological Operations Unit collaborates with the Urban Environment Division of the City of Helsinki in investigating food poisoning epidemics, and is responsible for monitoring and managing outbreaks of food poisoning and water-based epidemics. We offer temporary and long-term family care in private family homes. The goal of family care in services for people with disabilities is to provide the possibility for family-like care and the formation of close, long-lasting relationships. Family homes are located in Helsinki, elsewhere in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and in other Finnish municipalities. We organise services with the help of commission agreements or as purchased services. In family care, you can also make use of other services for people with disabilities. You can, for example, participate in work and day activities and use transport services. For long-term family care, we charge the full maintenance client fee, which is up to 85% of your monthly income. You can apply for our services through your local service point of Social Work for People with Disabilities. Description

The task of the neuropsychologists at the Family Centre is to complete extensive and differential diagnostic examinations of the developmental and learning difficulties of children and adolescents. Based on the research, we plan rehabilitation and support measures that prevent social or emotional difficulties related to learning difficulties. Typically, neuropsychological examinations are needed if a child or adolescent has persistent or complex learning and studying difficulties for which the support provided by maternity and child health clinics or school healthcare is not sufficient. We work in close co-operation with other parties working with children and young people. In addition, we offer consultation to psychologists and doctors working with children and adolescents. Our service requires a referral from a health station physician. A psychologist working for the city (e.g. a psychologist from maternity and child health clinics, family counselling clinics, pre-primary education, basic education, upper secondary education, youth centres or child welfare) or a psychologist from a contract school can also make a referral after consulting a neuropsychologist. As a rule, a referral can only be made after the psychologist's basic examinations have been completed. We operate at the Kamppi Family Centre's Ruoholahti office. In accordance with the Social Welfare Act, the parenting and family counselling provided by the family counselling clinic is support for families with children and adolescents under the age of 18. The family counselling clinic can help you, when - you would like conversational support in questions related to parenting and bringing up children - you are concerned about your child’s or adolescent’s behaviour or development - your child or adolescent is having problems at home, daycare, school or with friends - your family is struggling with conflicts, sorrow or other difficult life situation - you the parents are considering separating or your family needs help to cope with your separation - you are facing a new life situation, for example, as a single parent or in a reconstituted family. Our staff includes social workers and psychologists. We can also consult a child psychiatrist, if necessary. Our work is guided by your family’s needs and requests. If necessary, we can also cooperate with other parties who are important to your child or family. We also organise various groups at the family counselling clinic like, for example, emotional skills groups for children and parenting groups, such as Ihmeelliset vuodet ‘Wonderful Years’. You can seek the services of the family counselling clinic by calling social guidance for families with children or in Maisa. The services are free of charge.

Consumer fireworks (store-bought fireworks) The use of fireworks without a separate notification to the rescue authorities is allowed between December 31, 6 pm, to January 1, 2 am. During other times, the use of fireworks must be notified to the municipality's rescue authorities at least 5 days before the event. The notification will be made using the Use of fireworks form. Professional fireworks (firework shows) The municipality's police must be notified of the organising of a firework show at least seven days before the show is held. If necessary, the police will consult the municipality's rescue authorities due to the notification. The police will also report the show to the rescue authorities and the emergency response centre.

Description

At the Disability Outpatient Clinic, our services encompass evaluating and planning your rehabilitation in collaboration with you, your family, and support workers. Additionally, we address and provide support for behavioural and mental health issues, as well as everyday challenges. We also oversee treatments related to mental health medications or epilepsy and can refer you to specialised healthcare if necessary. Our assessments include evaluating your functional capacity and providing expert opinions. These opinions may extend to matters such as assistive devices, various forms of support and benefits, and readiness for school. When planning rehabilitation services, a functional capacity assessment and therapy need assessment are required. Based on these assessments, our doctors prepare their recommendations. Our rehabilitation plans outline how we intend to support your functional capacity in your daily life. We create these plans during appointments at the Disability Outpatient Clinic, typically spanning one to three years. To apply for rehabilitation, you are responsible for submitting your application to Kela, with the assistance of your family or a trusted representative if needed. Kela offers guidance and advice on the application process. Applications for demanding medical rehabilitation are made directly to Kela. If Kela does not approve your rehabilitation request, you have the option to apply for medical rehabilitation through the City of Helsinki. In such cases, the referral is initiated by a therapist at the Disability Outpatient Clinic, with the criteria for medical rehabilitation determined by Hospital, Rehabilitation, and Care Services. Most rehabilitation services are primarily delivered by private service providers.
