When you have sold or exported your vehicle for registration abroad or in Åland, you can decommission it abroad or to Åland. How to use it

You can decommission your vehicle abroad or to Åland at an inspection station that offers registration services. Bring a copy of the registration certificate from the foreign country/Åland or a certification of exit from Finnish customs. If you are unable to visit an inspection station, you can send the aforementioned document either by post to the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, P.O. Box 320, 00059 TRAFICOM or by email to kirjaamo@traficom.fi. Based on your notification, Traficom will mark your vehicle as decommissioned abroad or to Åland.

A designated technical service may perform testing on vehicles and components in accordance with directives, regulations and/or ECE regulations and the monitoring of production conformity. As a type-approval authority, Traficom designates and notifies the technical services performing testing in accordance with regulations and directives to the EU Commission and the services performing testing in accordance with ECE regulations to the UN. If the transport operator has a goods transport licence, which is a Community licence, the company must apply for a driver attestation for their driver, if the driver used by the company is a non-EU national. Driver attestations are not needed and cannot be issued for drivers who are nationals of an EU Member State or have been a resident of a Member State for a long time and been subsequently issued a P-EU residence permit.

A foreign driving licence can be exchanged for a Finnish one under certain conditions. The need and timing for the exchange depend on which country group the licence belongs to. Submit your application for a licence exchange at Ajovarma, the service provider authorised by Traficom. ### Driving Licence from an EU or EEA Country You may drive in Finland with your licence as long as it is valid. The licence must be exchanged at the latest when its validity is about to expire. ### Driving Licence from a Contracting State With a driving licence issued in a contracting state, you may drive in Finland for two years after becoming permanently resident in the country. The licence must be exchanged within this two-year period. It is recommended to start the exchange process well before the deadline. ### A driving licence issued in another state recognised by Finland allows you to drive in Finland as a tourist without a time limit. The licence must be exchanged within one year of the date when your address information is added to the Population Information System. This includes temporary addresses as well.

Through the FINMISP service, the National Cyber Security Centre shares technical cyber threat intelligence with the service’s customers.
