The number of ski tracks depends on the amount of snow. If there is little snow, you can only ski in Impivaara at Nunnavuori. If there is a lot of snow, there are many ski tracks at different parts of the city.

During the skiing season, walking on the ski lanes is forbidden.

Turku has an extensive network of sand and gravel fields. There are different sized fields: * The smallest fields are local fields (max. 40m x 60m). * Larger fields are divided into small-game fields (min. 40m x 60m) and large sand fields (min. 45m x 95m). * There are 51 local fields, 22 small-game fields and 5 large sand fields. Some of the fields are frozen during winter.

How to use it

Time slots for most fields can be reserved in the Timmi booking calendar.

At City of Turku's gyms, you can train either on your own or in a group with an instructor. Some gyms can also be reserved for the use of your own group. ### Gym Training ABC courses This affordable course goes over the basics of working out at a gym. It is intended for 15–64-year-olds who do not have previous experience with gym training. The course includes four meetings with an instructor, and in these meetings you get to know the basics of gym training and learn how to use the equipment independently. During the course, you'll also get a personal training plan, which makes independent gym training easier. Are you over 65? Find out more about beginner gym training courses for seniors at the senior wristband web page. The courses are held at Impivaara Gym, Kupittaa Sports Hall Gym and Petrelius Swimming Hall Gym. There are 10 to 12 spots available depending on the facility.

How to use it

Gym training is a varied form of sport that suits almost anyone. Always follow the personnel's instructions, keep good hygiene, and have good manners. This way we make sure that everyone can train securely and without interference.

The age limit for gym training is 15 years. 13–14-year-olds are allowed to train with a parent or a coach.

The City of Turku’s Housing Advice for Integration Services provides free and confidential guidance and support for residents with an immigrant background in a wide range of housing-related situations and matters. The service aims to help secure stable housing, support smooth integration and everyday life skills, and prevent housing problems and homelessness. A housing advisor can assist with: * Finding and applying for housing: Completing housing applications, navigating the rental market, and identifying suitable housing options. * Starting a tenancy and understanding responsibilities: Tenancy agreements, rental deposits, tenants’ rights and responsibilities, and building regulations. * Housing-related finances: Applying for housing benefits and social assistance, as well as providing advice on rent payments and rent arrears. * Practical housing matters and everyday living: Setting up electricity contracts and home insurance, waste sorting and recycling, and maintaining good neighbour relations. Housing Advice works closely with the city’s other integration and employment services, landlords, Kela, and the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland (Varha).

How to use it

Contact housing counselling by phone, email or by visiting in person. ### Explain your situation and get in touch. You can contact a housing counsellor by phone or email. You can also meet a housing counsellor without an appointment at Monitori on Market Square on Fridays from 9.00 to 15.00. If you need interpretation services or support in your own language, you can first contact the multilingual advisory service of International House Turku at Monitori on Market Square. ### Bring the necessary information and documents Please bring any documents and information related to your situation, such as: * your current tenancy agreement * any overdue rent invoices, payment reminders, or a summons application/eviction notice * information about your income, benefits and assets (for example, decisions issued by Kela) * your online banking credentials for electronic services and applications. Together with the housing counsellor, you will review your situation and create an action plan. Housing counselling can help you with, for example: * reviewing rent arrears and debt-related issues and preparing a repayment plan * applying for financial support, such as Kela housing allowance or social assistance * searching for housing offered by non-profit or private landlords * understanding housing-related rules, rights and responsibilities. ### Referral to other services if needed If your situation requires more extensive support, the housing counsellor can refer you to other services, such as social services, Kela, financial and debt counselling, or neighbour mediation.

Description

Integration activities for older people are intended for immigrants living in Turku who are over the age of 65 and currently within their integration period. The aim of the group activities is to support participants in settling into their new home city, strengthen everyday life skills, and promote overall wellbeing and functional ability. During the group sessions, participants practise basic Finnish for everyday situations, learn about Finnish society and services, and develop civic skills. The activities also offer an opportunity to spend time together, receive peer support and connect with others in a similar life situation. The activities are designed especially for older people who have limited or no literacy skills or who have received little formal education. Clear language, visual materials and practical methods are used in the groups, so participants can join even if they do not yet speak any Finnish. On their first visit, participants are welcomed by the instructors and introduced to the group activities. As part of the group activities, the instructors can provide help and guidance with everyday matters. Where necessary, they can also guide participants to other services, such as health and social services or activities provided by organisations. The group meets weekly at Ruusukortteli wellbeing centre.
