About this service
Description
Suomi.fi e-Identification is a common identification service for public sector organisations to identify the end-users of their digital services. The end-users log in to the digital service connected to the Suomi.fi e-Identification service with secure forms of identification issued in Finland. With a single login, using any device, they can securely access all the public sector digital services associated with the e-Identification service. A single login session is valid for a period of 32 minutes. User can carry out e-identification using banking codes, a mobile certificate, hightrust.id application or a certificate card (ID card, organization card, smart card for workplaces) If the e-service has enabled the identification methods for foreigners, end-users can identify themselves with identification tokens of other countries approved for cross-border identification in Europe and with the Finnish Authenticator application. All identification methods are available to the digital service via a single technical interface. Changes in the identification method selection do not require technical changes from e-services. A test environment that corresponds to the production environment is available for testing the Suomi.fi e-Identification service.
How to use it
The organisation will receive their Suomi.fi e-Identification from the Suomi.fi-palveluhallinta (service administration) site. Use of the service requires technical integration between the organisation’s digital service and the e-Identification service. The use of the e-Identification service also requires an access license and a data permit, which defines the services’ data requirements from the population information system. By joining the testing environment, a public sector organisation can prepare for the introduction of the Suomi.fi e-Identification service, determine the changes needed for its own digital service and test the implementation of its service. The test environment can be accessed through the Suomi.fi-palveluhallinta site.
