### Regional policy for Ostrobothnia Employment Services This service is available within the funding allocated to the Employment Services. The current policy for 2025 is that start-up grants will only be awarded for the first six months, provided all other eligibility criteria for the grant are met. Get in touch with the Employment Services early on so we can assess your eligibility for support. You may start your business at your own risk once your support application has been received by the employment authorities. When planning to start a business, we recommend contacting the free start-up grant and business advisory services provided by our region’s development companies. * Startia (VASEK), Vaasa, Korsholm, Malax, Laihia, Isokyrö, Korsnäs and Vörå * Concordia, Nykarleby * Dynamo Närpes, Närpes and Kaskö The contact details for the start-up grant specialist at Ostrobothnia Employment Services can be found at www.vaasa.fi/employment-services ### Things to note regarding payments If the recipient of the start-up grant earns income unrelated to their business during the grant period or receives other public support for their salary costs, the amount of such income will be deducted from the start-up grant. However, income classified as protected under Section 4, Article 7 of the Unemployment Security Act is not taken into account.
How to use it
### Break in the Processing of Start-Up Grant Applications in July Employment Services will not process start-up grant applications between 6 July and 17 July 2026. This may delay decisions if an application is submitted just before or during the processing break. If you are planning to start a business during the summer, act early and submit your application well in advance of July.
