About this service
Description
Vaccines protect against infectious or communicable diseases. They are not only natural but also an inexpensive way to prevent infectious diseases and their spread. Taking a vaccine is always voluntary. The vaccines included in the national vaccination programme are offered free of charge. In Finland, all children and young people are eligible for vaccines against 13 different diseases, related secondary diseases and long-term adverse effects. Adults are responsible for keeping their vaccination coverage up to date themselves. Vaccines are generally administered at health centres. Maternity clinics and student health care are responsible for providing the vaccines included in the national vaccination programme for children and young people.
