We can practise, for example, how to run errands or function at home and assess your need for assistive devices. We also carry out assessments on ability to work. You can access occupational therapy with a referral or when directed by another professional. You can also call our helpline yourself, tel. +358 9 310 32249 on Tuesdays from 16.00–17.30. At other times, you can leave your contact information on voicemail and we will call you back. Please do not leave a message on the voice mail about the cancellation of an appointment that has already been agreed. You can get a referral, for example, from a health station or hospital. Occupational therapists work as part of the health and well-being centre model. If you are already our customer, you can send us a message via Maisa. Occupational therapy is free of charge.

We offer support for rehabilitation at home and those acting as informal caregivers. With ageing, everyday life can narrow down to the home, and opportunities to participate in meaningful activities may become limited. Occupational therapy home rehabilitation takes place at the client’s home and outside the home. Occupational therapy involves practicing things that are important to clients, such as eating, dressing, running errands and engaging in leisure activities. We can help you plan a weekly schedule that supports functional ability and provide you with information on different aids and home alterations. Together, we will plan a rehabilitation period matching your needs. Usually, an occupational therapy period lasts 1 to 5 visits. You can access occupational therapy when directed by another professional, for example, by the client assistance, Senior Info, home care or Geriatric Outpatient Clinic. Vapaata voidaan järjestää useilla eri tavoilla: - lyhytaikaishoito omassa tai ostopalveluyksikössä - päivätoiminta - sijaisomaishoito - lomitus asiakkaan kotona Lomitukseen voidaan myöntää myös palveluseteli, jolloin asiakas voi itse valita eri palvelusetelituottajista itselleen sopivan. Kaikista muista vapaan järjestämismuodoista (esim. lyhytaikaishoito, osavuorokausihoito, päivätoiminta) peritään maksuna 11,40 euroa/ yksi lakisääteinen vapaa. Sijaisomaishoidon ja tuntilomituksen avulla järjestettävästä vapaasta ei peritä asiakasmaksua.

Description

Open family rehabilitation is intended for open care family customers of child welfare and is based on an assessment of the need for services made by a social worker. The goal of rehabilitation is to strengthen the interactive relationships within the family, parenthood and functional everyday life. The starting point of open family rehabilitation is the best interests of the child. Our target group are children from Helsinki aged 0–17 who are in need of child welfare, and their families. A requirement for enrolment is being a customer of child welfare. Family rehabilitation is based on a customer plan created together by the family and the social worker. The objectives of rehabilitation are agreed together with the family, social counsellors and the social worker. Open family rehabilitation is carried out at home and in the children's natural active environment. Our customers are children with neuropsychiatric symptoms and their families, as well as families with a baby who need support for early interaction. Joint meetings take place at least twice a week and may involve the whole family, a child or children, or a parent or both parents, as agreed. Open family rehabilitation lasts an average of six months. The pair of social counsellors are responsible for the implementation and progress of the rehabilitation process. If necessary, they may be accompanied by a nurse, an occupational therapist, a psychologist and/or a family therapist. We also carry out rehabilitation as agreed with the family’s networks. This service is free of charge.

During oral health check-ups, we always assess the occlusion of your teeth, meaning the way your teeth align. We correct severe cases of malocclusion with orthodontic treatment. Children and young people between the ages of 6 and 17 form the largest age group among orthodontic patients. Orthodontic treatment is free of charge for patients under the age of 18. The most severe cases of malocclusion are treated by specialised healthcare services. If your malocclusion requires specialised healthcare, we will provide you with a referral. If your occlusion is not severe enough to make you eligible for municipal orthodontic treatment, you can purchase treatment from a private dental clinic. Orthodontic treatment is a long-term commitment, as it may take several years. We will explain the objective of the treatment and the treatment plan to you before we start the treatment. Orthodontic treatment is provided in five dental clinics, so children and young people may not necessarily have dental chec-ups and orthodontic treatment in the same clinic. The location of orthodontic treatment depends on where the family lives.

You are entitled to the social services that you need, regardless of your nationality or reason for being in the country. We have focused our social welfare services for adult victims of human trafficking under Special Services for Immigrants. We work broadly on the different phenomena of exploitation, abuse and violence. Together, we will assess your service needs and create a plan aimed at promoting and maintaining your and your family’s wellbeing, safety and inclusion. We will help you access any other services you may need and, when necessary, work together with other operators to provide you with the help you need. You can contact us by phone or by visiting Kalasatama Health and Wellbeing Centre at Työpajankatu 14 A, 1st floor. You can contact us anonymously at first if you are unsure about your situation. If you are concerned that someone else has been exploited and needs the help of social welfare, you can submit a notification of concern. About this service

Description

Our goal is to identify development and learning problems as early as possible. We prevent and reduce the escalation of the problems. During the assessment visit, we will map the child’s development areas such as motor coordination, visual perception and processing of sensory information. In most cases, the child is referred to occupational therapy when issues requiring further examination have come up in the extensive check-up at the child health clinic or daycare centre. Usually, the child goes to occupational therapy 2 to 3 times. The first visit will take about an hour. It is important for the child’s parent or some other adult important to the child to come along for the first visit. The occupational therapist can also come to visit the child in their own environment, i.e. a daycare centre or home. After the assessment visit, the occupational therapist will provide the family with home exercising instructions or recommend occupational therapy rehabilitation for the child to be provided either by the city’s therapy services or with a service voucher. Occasionally, the occupational therapist can recommend additional examinations in specialised healthcare or with a speech therapist, physiotherapist or child health clinic psychologist. We also provide occupational therapy for babies. We instruct parents on how to act with their baby when they cry a lot, has problems with eating or sleeping or suffers from sensory hypersensitivity. You need a referral from the maternity clinic or child health clinic for occupational therapy for babies. Occupational therapists work as part of the family centre model. Personal assistance empowers you to lead an independent life, allowing you to make choices that align with your preferences. You can apply for personal assistance to address any tasks you are unable to manage independently due to your impairment. Personal assistance offers support in various aspects of your life, including: - Daily activities such as dressing, personal hygiene, household chores, and running errands outside the home. - Work and educational pursuits. - Leisure activities and recreational endeavors. You have three options for arranging personal assistance: 1) Employer model: In this model, you act as the employer of your assistant. 2) Service voucher: You can opt for personal assistance using a service voucher. 3) City's purchased service: Personal assistance services can also be obtained through the city's purchased service program. If you believe that personal assistance would benefit you, please complete the disability service application form and submit it to a Social Work for People with Disabilities service point in your residential area. Physiotherapy is individual and group therapy for promoting and maintaining the physical ability to function as well as counselling and guidance to support self-care. Centralised phone service for physiotherapy weekdays 8:00–15:00 tel. 09 310 67000 We have a call-back service.

Conditions

The client needs to be a client of the City of Helsinki’s health station services in order to use the physiotherapy services of the basic health care services of the City. The need for physiotherapy will primarily be assessed at health station services by phone or via online services, which provide instructions and advice to support self-care. If there is a need for an appointment regarding musculoskeletal problems, the client will primarily be referred directly to physiotherapy or to the doctor, if necessary. Based on their assessment, the doctor may recommend going to physiotherapy and give the contact information of the centralised phone service for physiotherapy to make an appointment.

Description

In the postpartum family coaching group, you will receive information on the recovery of the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles after giving birth. You will receive instructions for exercising your pelvic floor and core muscles. We will show you how to take abdominal separation into account when exercising. You can take part in the postpartum family coaching group after your postpartum check-up at the maternity clinic, two months after giving birth. You are welcome to attend the postpartum group any time during the year following childbirth. The postpartum family coaching group takes approximately 1½ hours and can be arranged remotely or on site at the family centre or at the physiotherapy clinic. You can bring your child to the group on site. You can sign up for physiotherapy family coaching groups through Maisa. 1. Choose "Book Appointment" in the menu. 2. Choose"Appointment for Physiotherapy". 3. Choose a suitable family coaching group. The appointment automatically creates a link for those who have registered for the remote group, which is activated in Maisa 15 minutes before the booked group. Physiotherapy groups and private appointments are free of charge.

Description

In the prenatal group, we will discuss the impacts of pregnancy and childbirth on the body. We will also cover exercising during pregnancy, rest positions of the back, pelvic floor functions and maintaining muscular strength. In the group, you will receive preventive instructions and advice on musculoskeletal stress caused by pregnancy and childbirth. The physiotherapy family coaching groups for pregnant individuals takes approximately 1½ hours, and it is arranged remotely. You can sign up for physiotherapy family coaching groups in the Maisa service. 1. Choose "Book Appointment". 2. Choose"Appointment for Physiotherapy". 3. Choose a suitable family coaching group. The booking automatically creates a link for the remote group. The link is activated in Maisa 15 minutes before the session starts. Physiotherapy groups and private appointments are free of charge.

The physiotherapist of the Disability Outpatient Clinic evaluates your functional capacity and need for rehabilitation and takes part in the preparation of your rehabilitation plan, if necessary. The physiotherapist provides guidance and support when your functional capacity or mobility changes, while also addressing and minimising physical impairments resulting from disability. The physiotherapist is responsible for assessing mobility and functional capacity, planning, organising and monitoring physiotherapy, managing mobility aids, and providing guidance and advice to family members and loved ones. You can access the service through the telephone counselling of the Disability Outpatient Clinic. Our services are free of charge.
