About this service
Description
We have centralised postpartum check-ups to the Ruoholahti Postpartum Assessment Unit. The unit employs public health nurses who are trained in postpartum check-ups and who support clients, particularly in matters related to recovery after childbirth and health promotion. During the appointment, we will discuss your childbirth experience, recovery from childbirth, mood and overall health, among other topics. The check-up takes place between 8 and 12 weeks after the childbirth. After you have given birth, a maternity and child health clinic nurse will book an appointment for you or prepare an appointment ticket, which you can use to book an appointment via the Maisa portal or by phone. The unit is located in Ruoholahti, at the address Itämerenkatu 5 A, 2nd floor. You should arrive at the Postpartum Assessment Unit 15 minutes before the start of the appointment so that the necessary measurements (blood pressure, weight and urine dipstick test) can be taken before the appointment. You should fill in the EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Rating Scale) form, which is available in the Maisa portal, before the appointment. If you wish, you can measure your blood pressure at home beforehand.
