Firearm permit

The police grants licences and permits for the acquisition and possession of firearms and weapon parts.

С чего начать: Permit applications referred to in the Firearms Act can be filed via online services or by visiting a police station with a verbal application that the receiving clerk will enter in the police firearms information system. The applicant must always present the grounds for the application in writing. The online services require loggign in. When visiting a police station you need to bring a passport or identity card (a driving licence is not an identification document) When you apply for a weapon permit you must attach: • grounds for the application in writing and other documents needed to justify the application (e.g. hunting licence) • military passport, civilian service certificate, conscription certificate or a certificate showing that you are exempt from military service • other certificates in accordance with the intended use of the weapon (e.g. certificate issued by a firearms instructor) More information about the applications referred to in the Firearms Act such as parallel licences, entity licences, weapon handling licences, duplicated applications, private import or transfer licences or European Firearms Pass can be found on the website of the police.

Forms that be used to present the grounds for different purposes can be found on the website of the police. A firearm permit can be granted only to a person who has reached the age of 18 and who is on the basis of his or her health and behaviour fit to possess a weapon and a weapon part. For example, applicants with a criminal record or substance abuse issues may be refused. A firearms permit for a pistol, small pistol, revolver or small revolver or their part can be granted only to a person who has reached the age of 20.

Familia's Finnish language courses are under the guidance of professional teachers. In addition to practicing the Finnish language, the the courses also provide information about Finnish society. Familia also organises Finnish language discussion groups led by volunteers. You can practice the basics of the Finnish language or practice the language skills you have already acquired with others in the same situation. We warmly welcome all new and old students! Familia's Finnish language courses are primarily aimed at Finnish spouses who want to learn and develop their Finnish language skills under the guidance of professional teachers. The courses take into account the opportunities offered by the Finnish-speaking spouse and close circle to support the study of the Finnish language.The teaching also takes into account the student's everyday language use needs and interactions. All of the Finnish language courses and discussion groups take place in Familia’s office or online by Zoom.

Fishing permits for state-owned waters are issued by Metsähallitus. The fishing permits are divided according to the fishing method. An angling permit allows lure fishing, fly fishing, ice fishing or hook and line fishing, depending on the terms of the permit area. With a trap permit, you can fish with nets or traps, and with a crayfishing permit, you can catch crayfish. The permit is always purchased for a specific permit area. Metsähallitus’ fishing destinations are usually special areas where fishing cannot be done with the fisheries management fee alone. For trap fishing, fishing with multiple rods and crayfishing in state-owned waters, a separate fishing permit from Metsähallitus is required in addition to the fisheries management fee. In addition to these permits, Metsähallitus grants fishing permits for local residents in Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki.
