Описание
The City of Helsinki has eight general upper secondary schools that offer general upper secondary school studies based on a special educational task. A special educational task means that the school specialises in a certain subject, such as visual arts, music, sport or natural sciences, mathematics and statistics. You can find out more about the special educational tasks of our general upper secondary schools on the schools’ web pages. The special educational task of a general upper secondary school can mean two different things. 1. The general upper secondary school places a significant emphasis on one or more subjects or study modules in its curriculum. If certain requirements are met, you can replace some of your compulsory studies by completing at least 24 credits in line with the school’s special educational task. 2. The aim of the general upper secondary school studies is for the student to complete an international qualification at the level of the Finnish matriculation examination certificate. One example of such a qualification is the International Baccalaureate Diploma. At a general upper secondary school with a special educational task, you can 1. complete general upper secondary education or equivalent studies 2. build an individual study path 3. obtain special skills for the future 4. deepen your knowledge and skills in a particular hobby 5. obtain a matriculation examination certificate or complete an international qualification.
Как пользоваться
You apply to a general upper secondary school with a specialised task through the joint application system. Students are selected based on their comprehensive education certificates (either the average grade in academic subjects or a weighted average). The application process may also include an entrance exam and other additional assessments. If study places become available during the school year, you can apply for a place through the rolling submission process. The criteria for student selection are the same as in the joint application procedure. If you have completed education equivalent to Finnish comprehensive education abroad or do not have a comprehensive education certificate, you can apply to general upper secondary general school via discretionary admission in the joint application procedure or through rolling admission.
