Описание
The Positive credit register is a register that contains data on private individuals' credits and income. The aim of the register is to: * prevent households from taking too much debt * improve the ability of creditors to assess the creditworthiness of credit applicants * help individuals manage their own finances * provide reliable information on the credit market * facilitate the monitoring and supervision of the credit market. The Positive credit register was introduced in spring 2024. Legislation concerning the register entered into force on 1 August 2022. ### What is the benefit of the Positive credit register? The register provides * better opportunities for creditors to assess the solvency of credit applicants * new ways for authorities to monitor and supervise the financial market * private individuals an overall picture of their own credits and the possibility to set a voluntary credit ban. ### How does the Positive credit register work? Creditors report to the credit register information on credits they have granted and changes made to the credits. Such changes include repayments and changes to credit agreements. When an individual applies for a loan, the creditor is obliged to check the creditworthiness of the applicant. To this end, the creditor requests an extract from the Positive credit register. The extract contains up-to-date information on the credit applicant's credits and income reported to the register. Private individuals can view the details of their credits and set a voluntary credit ban for themselves, free of charge, in the credit register. The register provides online services for private individuals. The authorities specified by law, have the right to access the information in the credit register in order to perform their statutory tasks. The credit register information is available to The Financial Supervisory Authority, The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, The Financial Stability Authority, The Bank of Finland and Statistics Finland.
