Separate examination in basic education

In certain cases, the basic education syllabus can be completed in a separate examination.

Издатель: City of Lappeenranta · Муниципалитет

Описание

It is possible to complete the basic education syllabus in a separate examination either completely or for individual syllabi. If your child is home schooled, it is possible for them to take a separate examination and that way obtain the basic education certificate. In some cases, the separate examination may also apply to pupils attending the city’s basic education. The separate examination is usually taken in study modules of 2–3 subjects. That way, the individual examination period does not drag on or become too extensive when completing the entire syllabus. You can negotiate dividing and timing the subjects to be examined with the inspective teacher of the examination. However, the municipality determines the examination dates. The inspective teacher receives the separate examination and gives a final mark on the basis of it. When completing the entire basic education syllabus, the pupil must attend education in subjects common to all in the separate examination: mother tongue and literature, second national language, foreign language, biology, geography, health education, mathematics, physics, chemistry, religion or worldview studies, history, social studies, physical education, crafts, home economics, visual arts and music. Optional subjects are not taken in the separate examination. A person who has successfully completed the separate examination will be given a certificate called Separate Basic Education Certificate.

Как пользоваться

If your child is home schooled, contact the inspective teacher in good time, preferably by the end of October, to agree on the separate examination. Contact the school’s headmaster if your child is enrolled in a city school and you would like the child to take a separate examination in some syllabi. You will find more information on moving to home schooling via page "Completion of compulsory education at home".

Service guidance for early childhood education

Описание

Lappeenranta’s early childhood education services employ a service coordinator, who receives and processes all new early childhood education place applications for daycare centres and family daycare. In addition, the duties of the service coordinator include customer guidance, assessment of families’ service needs and coordination of services. It is the task of the service coordinator to provide parents with information about all early childhood education services arranged by the City of Lappeenranta. Parents can ask the service coordinator questions related to early childhood education even before submitting an application. Together with the family, the service coordinator considers what kind of early childhood education service would suit the needs of the child and family at that time. The service coordinator contacts the family as soon as the application has arrived. The service coordinator also informs the family of other important practices related to starting early childhood education. In the case of applications submitted in spring where the need for an early childhood education place starts in August–October, the head of the daycare centre or family daycare coordinator contacts the family about a month before the daycare place is needed. Familiarisation visits and other practical arrangements are agreed at that time. Early childhood education client fee secretaries provide advice to families in payment matters.

Как пользоваться

You can contact the service coordinator by phone or email. The service coordinator provides information on all early childhood education services arranged by the City of Lappeenranta and guides you in preparing the early childhood education application.

Условия

Shift care or round-the-clock care is provided only to children who need it due to their guardians’ work or studies. The service coordinator asks guardians for proof of shift work when applying for an early childhood education place.

Service voucher for private daycare centres

A service voucher is a subsidy granted by the municipality when the family chooses a private daycare centre as the place of early childhood education.

Издатель: City of Lappeenranta · Муниципалитет

Язык описания: Английский

Охват: Выбранные муниципалитеты, регионы или округа благополучия

Об услуге

Описание

The City of Lappeenranta makes use of an early childhood education service voucher that can be used in private daycare centres accepted at service-voucher daycare centres. The activities of the service-voucher daycare centres are governed by the same acts, decrees and regulations as the municipality’s own early childhood education activities. The city monitors the service-voucher daycare centres. At the moment, there are seven private daycare centres in Lappeenranta that provide services with service vouchers: – Daycare Centre Omenapuu (Christian day care centre) – Steinerpäiväkoti Tontuntupa – Daycare Centre Tirikka – Touhula Tirilä – Touhula Lappeenranta Campus – Norlandia Kuutti – Norlandia Norppa

Как пользоваться

How to apply for a service voucher: 1. Agree on a daycare place with a daycare centre that accepts service vouchers. 2. After your daycare place has been confirmed, sign a written service agreement on your child’s early childhood education with the service-voucher daycare centre. 3. Apply for a service voucher through the eDaisy service of the City of Lappeenranta with the service voucher application. 4. You can submit your income statement for the determination of the service voucher value when you submit the service voucher application. Please attach income documents and any additional information. Alternatively, you can choose to pay the maximum fee, so you do not need to submit income documents. If the income documents are not submitted by the end of the first month of attendance or are incomplete, the maximum fee is charged for the child. 5. After you receive a decision regarding the value of your service voucher, you and the head of the day care centre need to fill in the page of the service agreement stating the client’s co-payment. 6. Remember to report changes through the eDaisy service when * the family’s income changes significantly, for example due to losing or finding employment or changing jobs * there is a change in family relationships, such as a new family member * the child’s custody changes If the service voucher is incorrect, please contact the early childhood education client fee team. Remember to report a change in the child’s early childhood education hours by using the change form found in eDaisy. Notify the private day care centre coordinator when * the child’s day care attendance ends * you move to another municipality – the City of Lappeenranta only provides service vouchers for children who live in Lappeenranta. You will receive a decision on the daycare place at the service-voucher daycare centre once the application has been processed. In addition, you will receive a decision on the value of the service voucher once you have provided your income information. More information is available from the private day care centre coordinator and from the early childhood education client fee team as regards the co-payment amount of the service voucher.

Условия

A service voucher can be granted to a resident of the City of Lappeenranta who would also be entitled to early childhood education services in municipal early childhood education provided by the City of Lappeenranta. The service voucher applicant must be registered in Lappeenranta or the child must have at least a temporary address in Lappeenranta.

Информация об оплате

The service voucher is income-related and the monthly co-payment paid by the family to the private daycare centre equals the client fee the family would pay for municipal early childhood education. The family’s income affects the co-payment amount and service voucher amount. The service voucher cannot be granted to a family that already receives private day care allowance or child home care allowance.

Hakumenettely on molemmissa sama. Rakentaminen vastoin voimassa olevaa asemakaavaa tai rakentaminen kaavoittamattomilla ranta-alueilla edellyttää poikkeamislupaa. Rakentaminen asemakaava-alueen ulkopuolella voidaan tutkia hakijan niin halutessa erillisellä sijoittamisluvalla ennen rakentamisluvan hakemista. Myönteisen poikkeamisluvan ja sijoittamisluvan lisäksi tarvitaan aina rakentamislupa. Rakentamislupaa haetaan rakennusvalvontaviranomaiselta.

Special needs education in general upper secondary schools is primarily pedagogical support aimed at developing learning skills, finding one’s own learning style and strengthening self-confidence and motivation. The purpose of learning support and special needs education is to support students in completing their general upper secondary school studies and in their transition to further studies, and to promote their well-being and motivation. Special needs education and other support measures also include possible special arrangements, such as additional time during exams. The student’s need for special arrangements in the matriculation examinations is assessed based on the support that the student has needed during general upper secondary school. The student applies for special arrangements for the matriculation examination separately from the matriculation examination board. The application for special arrangements is made with the special needs teacher. The special needs teacher will provide the student with guidance on obtaining the necessary statements to accompany the application and give them a statement of dyslexia if requested.

Описание

Children usually start school the year they turn seven years old. Sometimes it may be in your child’s best interests to start basic education already the year they turn six years old. In other words, it is possible to bring forward your child’s start of school by one year, if necessary. You can apply for your child to start their compulsory education at the age of six. The application will be addressed to the headmaster of the school closest to your address. The headmaster makes the decision on pupil admission. The matter is always examined multi-professionally and thoroughly. A psychologist’s and, if necessary, a physician’s report must always be attached to the application. If your child is in early childhood education, the early childhood education teacher draws up a pedagogical description of your child’s situation. The psychologist and, if necessary, the physician will take the description received from early childhood education into account in their statement. The school’s headmaster also has access to the pedagogical description.

Как пользоваться

If your child is in early childhood education, contact your child’s pre-primary education teachers to enquire about starting school one year earlier than enacted. Fill in the application form and attach the required professional statements. Submit the application to the headmaster of the school closest to your home address. Описание

Children usually start school the year they turn seven years old. Sometimes it may be in your child’s best interests not to start school until the following year. In other words, if necessary, it is possible to postpone your child’s start of school by one year. The postponement must always be based on an examination carried out by a psychologist or, if necessary, a physician. The matter is always examined with thorough consideration. On the basis of the guardian’s application, the school’s headmaster will make a decision on starting basic education one year later than enacted. If your child is in pre-primary education, the pre-primary education teacher draws up a pedagogical description of your child’s situation. The psychologist or, if needed, physician will take the description received from pre-primary education into account in their statement. The school’s headmaster also has access to the pedagogical description. If your child has not attended pre-primary education, you must take care of submitting the psychologist’s or, if necessary, physician’s statement to the school’s headmaster. If your child has a decision on early compulsory education, a decision to start basic education in the year the child turns eight can only be made for a justified reason and after careful consideration. Such a reason could be, for example, that your child has not attended pre-primary education at all due to illness, and attending pre-primary education is considered to be in the child's best interests.

Как пользоваться

Contact your child’s pre-primary education teachers to enquire about starting school one year later than enacted. You don't need to register your child for the school. If you are planning to start your child's school one year later than enacted, please inform us in Wilma by using the form The starting of basic education. Please tick “We are applying to start basic education one year later than enacted”. The guardians will also fill in the application form, attach the psychologist’s and, if necessary, the physician’s report to it and submit the application to the headmaster of the school closest to your home address. Описание

Student welfare promotes and maintains students’ learning, mental and physical health and social well-being as well activities supporting them. Wellbeing services county of South Karelia (Ekhva) is responsible for organising pupil and student health care in the city of Lappeenranta. The aim is to carry out student welfare either within the educational institution or on nearby premises. The role of student welfare is largely to provide preventive community activity that supports the educational community. It is carried out by the entire staff of the educational institution. When additional examinations or treatment or corrective measures are needed, the student is referred to Ekhva’s other services. Student welfare groups of general upper secondary schools are responsible for the implementation of communal student welfare. Activities are planned, developed and evaluated in groups on a regular basis. ### Student welfare services Students have the right to individual student welfare, such as * services of the school social worker and psychologist * school and student health care * support of a multidisciplinary group assembled with the student and/or guardian to support the student. A social worker with appropriate expertise is employed at each school.. You can turn to the school social worker when you have concerns about the well-being of a student, for example, due to a life change. The school social worker evaluates the student’s need for support and provides support and guidance to alleviate difficulties and promote well-being. The school social worker supports the student by, for example, discussing and referring the student and their family to additional support, if necessary. Each school also employs a psychologist.. The psychologist supports the student’s learning and well-being as well as social and psychological abilities in cooperation with the support network. In addition to discussion, the psychologist conducts psychological assessments and examinations and refers the student to further examinations or rehabilitation if necessary. Student health care services are delivered by a nurse and a doctor. As an expert in care work, the nurse is responsible for health counselling and health examinations and acts as the doctor’s work partner.

Studying a voluntary foreign language in basic education

In addition to English and Swedish, it is possible to study German, Russian, French and Spanish in basic education.

Издатель: City of Lappeenranta · Муниципалитет

Язык описания: Английский

Охват: Выбранные муниципалитеты, регионы или округа благополучия

Об услуге

Описание

In Lappeenranta, all pupils start English as their first foreign language, also known as the A1 language. In the 4th grade, you can start studying a voluntary A2 language. In this case, you can choose between Spanish, French, German or Russian. Good language skills and knowledge of foreign cultures are an advantage both in leisure time and in an increasing number of jobs. Everyone benefits from versatile language skills, regardless of their educational background or occupation. When seeking employment, strong language skills are a clear advantage for applicants, especially if they are proficient in languages that other applicants do not know. The affinity for learning foreign languages is at its strongest at school age. Language learning started in childhood produces better results than that started in adulthood. Starting language learning in primary school guarantees a long period of time to learn vocabulary, grammar and culture as well as practise speaking. When considering the choice of a voluntary A2 language, it is worth taking into account the experiences your child already has in studying one foreign language (English). Taking another foreign language increases the number of weekly lessons, so the child’s own interest helps in learning the language. It should also be noted that in secondary school, A2 language lessons are mostly taken from the quota of optional subjects. Therefore, the choice of a voluntary A2 language in primary school may reduce the choice of optional subjects in secondary school. Studies in languages started in primary school continue in secondary school. If the pupil’s primary school does not offer the possibility to further study the A2 language that the pupil has previously started, the pupil will be admitted to a secondary school where it is possible to study said A2 language. In addition to A languages, a B1 language which begins in the 6th grade is studied jointly in schools. The B1 language is the second national language. In Lappeenranta, this is Swedish. In addition to the B1 language, it is possible to choose a voluntary B2 language in grades 7 to 9. In Lappeenranta, in grades 7 to 8, the voluntary B2 language in all schools is Spanish, French, German and Russian. In addition to these, schools may offer the opportunity to study other foreign languages as well. Groups will be set up if a sufficient number of pupils register and the school has a qualified teacher.

Как пользоваться

Pupils will choose their languages in the spring before teaching begins. For more information, contact your school’s teachers and headmaster.

Условия

In accordance with the decision of the Children and Youth Committee, education in a voluntary A2 language always begins if there are at least 16 pupils who have chosen the same language. The A2 language teaching group may also be set up jointly between several schools, and it may also meet in the premises of a secondary school. The initial size of the group may be smaller if resources are available for setting up the group. Similarly, schools can set up language groups using their own resources, even if the number of pupils were slightly lower. If a school receives a small number of language selections, it will be determined whether pupils can be taught remotely. If the pupil changes schools due to a language selection, the new school becomes their secondary school. The prerequisite for granting a secondary school place is that the guardian is responsible for transporting the pupil and for any costs incurred. If the pupil has been granted school transport to their primary school, the guardian may also submit a separate application related to the transport costs to and from the secondary school. Transport assistance is granted at the most according to the cheapest bus ticket product available up to the transport costs to and from the primary school. Any assistance will be paid retroactively.

Описание

Your child has the right to receive support for learning and school attendance whenever it is needed. The aim is that in comprehensive school each pupil receives support for learning and school attendance proactively and at the right time. Support for learning and school attendance is arranged primarily within your child’s own teaching group through various flexible arrangements, unless it is clearly in your child’s best interest to transfer to another group or school. ### Teaching arrangements that support learning Teaching arrangements that support learning apply to all school activities and provide the basis for taking pupils’ needs into account. These arrangements include a wide range of methods to enable pupils to learn and attend school. Examples of teaching arrangements that support learning include: * supporting safety and attachment to school * a clear structure * flexibly formed teaching groups and differentiated teaching * language-aware teaching * inclusive teaching arrangements and pupil-centred approaches * giving positive feedback and guiding towards desired behaviour * the support of teaching assistants in participation in lessons. ### Group-level support measures Group-level support measures are the right of all pupils and are the primary form of support. Group-level support is directed at the entire teaching group and no separate decision is made for an individual pupil. Group-level support is implemented flexibly and systematically. Group-level support measures include: * general remedial teaching provided by the teacher * remedial teaching of the language of instruction provided by the teacher * teaching provided by a special needs teacher alongside other teaching. ### Individual support measures Individual support measures complement the pupil’s support if group-level support measures have not been sufficient. Individual support measures are planned according to the pupil’s personal needs and are the subject of a plan and a decision based on an assessment of support needs. Individual support measures are arranged primarily in the pupil’s own school, taking the pupil’s best interest into account. Individual support measures include: * teaching by a special needs teacher partly in a small group and alongside other teaching * teaching by a special needs teacher or a special class teacher in a small group * teaching by a special class teacher in a special needs class * individual interpretation and assistance services as well as assistive devices.

Описание

A child has the right to receive support for learning and participation in pre-primary education whenever they need it. Support is provided as early as possible within the child’s own group. Support for learning and participation in pre-primary education refers to the solutions a child needs for learning and taking part in teaching. All pre-primary education groups must implement teaching arrangements that support the prerequisites for learning as part of the basic activities of pre-primary education. In addition to teaching arrangements that support the prerequisites for learning, pre-primary education provides group-specific forms of support according to the needs of the group. If the teaching arrangements that support the prerequisites for learning and the group-specific forms of support do not sufficiently support the child’s learning and participation in pre-primary education, the child has the right to child-specific support measures, which are provided on the basis of a decision on support. Child-specific support measures include regular teaching provided by a special educational needs teacher, partly in a small group and partly in connection with other teaching; teaching provided by a special educational needs teacher in a small group; interpreting and assistant services and assistive devices. In pre-primary education, cooperation also takes place with providers of comprehensive education and with parties that support and assess the child’s development. The Lappeenranta pre-primary education curriculum provides more detailed information on support for learning and participation in pre-primary education.

Как пользоваться

Please contact your child’s early childhood education special needs teacher, head of the day care centre or family day care coordinator for more information on the pre-primary education support measures. The contact information can be found under Service Locations.

Support for the child in early childhood education

A child who attends early childhood education has the right to receive the support they need as a part of early childhood education.

Описание

Early childhood education in Lappeenranta makes use of three levels of support. The starting points for the organisation of support are the child’s strengths and needs related to learning and development. Support is provided in the child’s own daycare centre group or family daycare group, within the child’s early childhood education hours, as part of the day-to-day early childhood education activities. The child’s learning environment is adapted to suit the child, taking into account the child’s interests and support needs. Support for learning and development is built on responding to the child’s individual needs and on solutions related to community and learning environments. Cooperation with the child, guardian, early childhood education teacher, special-needs teacher in early childhood education and other early childhood education staff is important in identifying the child’s need for support and in planning, implementing and assessing the support. Identifying the need for support and providing support are the responsibility of all staff members according to their educational background, job descriptions and responsibilities. In early childhood education, collaboration parties also include parties that support and examine the child’s development. Support needed by the child is recorded in the child’s early childhood education plan by the daycare centre or family daycare provider. Lappeenranta’s early childhood education plan describes in detail the support measures available for learning and development.

Как пользоваться

Please contact your child’s early childhood education special needs teacher, head of the daycare centre or family daycare coordinator for more information on the early childhood education support measures. The contact information can be found under the contact information for day care centres.

Описание

There are two swimming halls in Lappeenranta – the Lappeenranta and Lauritsala swimming halls – where you can do many kinds of water exercise, such as swimming, water aerobics and aquajogging. The Sports Department organises guided water exercise in the swimming halls, and both halls have virtual water exercise screens for independent exercise. The swimming halls consider different customer groups by assigning dedicated lanes in the pools for seniors, people with reduced mobility and aquajoggers, as well as for fitness and competitive swimmers. Swimming clubs practise in both swimming halls during and outside opening hours. In addition to a large swimming pool and a children’s pool, Lappeenranta Swimming Hall has a diving pool with a diving platform and a water slide. Lauritsala Swimming Hall was designed with a focus on wheelchair accessibility and persons with reduced mobility in the pool area. The details of the swimming halls, hall-specific services and exceptions to the normal opening hours are indicated on their pages.
