Building construction requires a building permit. In Naantali, building permits are primarily applied through the Lupapiste.fi service.
According to the Land Use and Building Act, the following activities require a building permit:
* the construction of a building
* repair and alteration work comparable to building construction
* building expansion
* increasing the gross floor area of a building
* repair and alteration work, if the work appears to have an impact on the safety or health conditions of the users of the building
* substantial alteration of the intended use of the building or part of it
You will also need a building permit for repairs and modifications to the body of the building or technical systems that can have a significant impact on the energy efficiency of the building.
In order to substantially alter the intended use of a building or part of it, a building permit is required. When considering whether a permit is required, the impact of the alteration of the intended use, on the implementation of the plan and other land use, as well as the properties required of the building are weighed. Altering the use of holiday homes to permanent housing, for example, is considered to require a permit. The implementation of a major retail unit is considered to have the before-mentioned impact on land use, unless the area is specifically designated for this purpose in the local detailed plan.
A time limit may be set for the building permit concerning a fixed-term stationary building.
